Learning More About The History of Gin

Gin is an alcoholic libation with a rather fascinating history going back to Holland in the 17th century. Gin was designed by Doctor. Franciscus de La Boie, who was a medical teacher at the College of Leyden. Gin, like lots of other spirits, was originally intended as a medication as the doctor wanted an effective but cheap diuretic to treat kidney issues. After mixing Juniper berries and grain alcohol, he called his new medication genever, after the French word for Juniper.
