The Wines of Sauternes

Sauternes is a wine producing area slightly to the south of Bordeaux, known for its sweet white wines. It consists of 5 areas; Sauternes itself, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Barsac. Barsac is also an appellation in its own right and, uniquely, wine produced in Barsac can either be created as Barsac or Sauternes Wine.
