The Wines of Barsac

Barsac is one of the five parishes which form the Sauternes appellation, the others are: Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Sauternes itself. Barsac is also an appellation in its own right and, rather unusually, wine made there can either be labelled as Barsac or Sauternes.

Barsac's Vineyards

The vineyards are found slightly to the north of the River Ciron some 35km south of Bordeaux. They have got a marginally different geological make up to the other areas of Sauternes. Clay top soils over a
